ZERO DARK THIRTY tells the story of the 10 year hunt for Osama Bin Laden. The movie shows the real back story of the raid on May 2, 2011. Director Katheryn Bigelow has been criticized for making this a pro Obama film. So much so that Columbia Pictures moved the release date from October to December, well after the Presidential election, but luckily in time for Oscar consideration.

The Obama Administration was criticized for giving too much information to Bigelow during her research. So many movies take liberties and change real life stories to make them more entertaining and create what they think might have happened. It is refreshing to see a movie made on facts from the real people involved. I find it hard to believe that this movie will cause any kind of security risk to our country.

Of course the Republicans will turn this movie into a political statement, but not every movie about actual events needs to be political. In fact Co-Writer Mark Bole says, “There’s no political agenda in the film. Full stop. Period,” says Boal, a veteran journalist and war correspondent. “A lot of people are going to be surprised when they see the film. For example, the president is not depicted in the movie. He’s just not in the movie.”
