Craig Zadan and Neil Meron have been chosen to produce the 85th Academy Awards ceremony that will air Feb. 24.  The pair produced the films  “Chicago” and “Hairspray”. Along with their credits as film producers, they have worked in television shows like “Drop Dead Diva” and “SMASH,” and on Broadway, where they were producers for “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” and “Promises, Promises.”

This was the first big assignment for newly elected president of the Academy Hawk Koch.

Going by their credits we can only assume that it will be another stodgy Academy Awards with a lot of musical numbers. This pair should be producing the Tony Awards! Every gay man over the age of 70 rejoice!

I wait for the day that we see a hipper and younger producing team to spice things up a little. Maybe next year?
