2014 Golden Globe Predictions

The Hollywood Foreign Press is a lighthearted bunch. They love movie stars and nominate the biggest to get them to attend. They hand out expensive booze and food. It’s one big drunken celebration. Completely opposite the stuffy Oscar ceremony. This is why I am predicting a complete shut out of 12 YEARS A SLAVE.  The one thing that can really drag a party down is slavery. They respect the movie enough to nominate it, but they don’t want it to ruin their night. I could be completely wrong on this and I hope that I am, but here is how I think it will go:

  1. So happy with the nominations this year and for 12 Years A Slave. Great movie. I do think that The Butler was snubbed though. I personally thought it was a great film and Oprah’s performance was outstanding.

  2. Having just seen Blue is the Warmest Color a few weeks ago, if it won, I’d be pleased, but I haven’t seen any of its competition. Same with Blue Jasmine- loved the film, but haven’t seen the other contenders. While I liked Jennifer Lawrence’s performance in Hustle, I’d say it’s maybe nomination WORTHY, but I’m not sure about winning it, unless the competition is really bad. I enjoyed it, but personally don’t think it warrants that, but since it’s David O’Russell, I’m constantly comparing the film and performances to Silver Linings Playbook, which isn’t really fair.
