Woody Allen’s Cafe Society Premieres at Cannes


The reviews for Woody Allen’s Cafe Society opened the first night of the Cannes Film Festival. Cafe Society is about A young man arrives in Hollywood during the 1930s hoping to work in the film industry. There, he falls in love, and finds himself swept up in the vibrant café society that defined the spirit of the age. 

The reviews were mixed but generally favorable. It currently has a 71% on Rotten Tomatoes with 14 reviews in. It has been described as a typical Woody Allen film with no real plot surprises, but is lifted up my the acting performances and cinematography. Films need to make a bigger splash than this to make it to the Oscar race.
