Manchester by the Sea has already been called the best movie of the 21st Century by Rolling Stone Film Critic Peter Travers. Now that The Birth of a Nation is more or less out of play, Manchester by the Sea and Billy Flynn’s Log Halftime Walk have become the Best Picture front-runners.

Jeff Wells from Hollywood Elsewhere is one of the toughest critics out there. He wrote, “[Some movies] get you in such a vulnerable place that your admiration is mixed with a kind of stunned feeling, like you’ve been hit square in the heart.”  and “Casey Affleck taps into that slightly downcast melancholy thing that [he’s] always carried around. It’s like when Gregory Peck played Atticus Finch in To Kill A Mockingbird — it’s one of those legendary perfect fits.”

The trailer was released earlier today.
