The National Board of Review is becoming more and more an Oscar predictor every year. I the last 6 years, their best film winner has gone on to receive a nomination.

Manchester by the Sea won best film, actor, screenplay and breakthrough performance. It is interesting to note that they split Best Film and Best Director. I could see the Oscars doing the same. Manchester by the Sea is the overall better film, but you can’t beat Barry Jenkins directing in Moonlight. Great to see Eye in the Sky honored in the Independent Film category.
