GOLDEN LION AWARD RIPPED FROM THE MASTER

According to Hollywood Reporter; THE MASTER was awarded the top prize at The Venice Film Festival, but due to some odd rules it was taken away. The Korean film PIETA took home the prize instead.

Best Actor prizes did go to Joaquin Phoenix and Philp Seymour Hoffman. Paul Thomas Anderson won for Best Director.

NEW TRAILER FOR THE MASTER

We are 2 weeks away from the release of THE MASTER. There has been a lot of Oscar talk leading up to the release, including Best Picture. Since a handful of critics have screened it, the Best Picture buzz has died down. Mostly because everyone is walking away without knowing what the hell the movie is about. Sasha Stone at AWARDSDAILY¬†tweeted to me “to win best picture it has to have an actual plot“. ¬†She has a good point. Although “art” is always subjective, it has to have a “plot” to be fully appreciated. It is still in the running for a BP nomination, but probably not a win.

The word on the street now is major acting nominations for Amy Adams, Joaquin Phoenix and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

THE MASTER is competing for the Golden Lion in the 69th Venice Film Festival, between August 29 and September 8.

Here is the final trailer for THE MASTER.
